Creating An Efficient Laundry Room

We all have so much to get done within the hustle bustle of our day-to-day lives, not to mention what we need to get done by the end of the week, or month. When it comes to getting the big tasks done, the least of your worries should be all the small tasks. You need these chores to be done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

One of these little tasks that most of us just need to get out of the way is doing the laundry. We need to do this quickly, but most importantly, we need this to be done correctly so our clothes are clean and will stay looking sharp. Here are a few tips that will help you create an efficient laundry room.

Clean & Organize

First and foremost, keep the laundry room clean and organized. Everything needs to have a place or spot. For example, once you use the detergent, it needs to go back exactly where it belongs. While we’re on the topic, a good place for detergent would be on a shelf that isn’t too high for you to reach, but far enough away that a toddler can’t reach it.

Maintain a Routine

Creating a truly efficient laundry room doesn’t happen without a routine. Dirty clothes hampers can be separated out between colors and whites for convenience. When one is full, you know it is time to wash. After the clothes are washed and dried, ensure that you have a designated folding area. Make sure you have the space to quickly fold and hang clothes so they are ready to be put away. The sooner you fold them after they have been dried, the less wrinkles they will have. This doesn’t have to be your routine but whatever you choose try to follow it.

Have a Good Attitude

It’s important to have the proper attitude about your laundry room. How many times have you been in a friend’s beautiful home, only to see that the laundry room is dark, covered in dirty piles of clothes, and smelly? We need to think of this as just another room in the house and decorate it accordingly. When the room is warm and inviting, just like the rest of the house, it won’t be as hard to walk in and quickly do the next load of laundry. Our environment affects us emotionally, even more than we are aware. When our space is clean, organized and smelling good, it won’t be such a chore to walk in and throw a few clothes in every now and again.
